Sizing up the Siding

I decided early on that I wanted to use James Hardie Siding on our camp.

It is a cement-fiber product that is already painted and has a 50 year warranty. It's like armoring your house against the elements and it is virtually no maintenance. Good stuff. There is a link in the title above.

Here are a couple of pictures of the siding that is finally going up this week.

The window trim is a preprimed product that will eventually get painted brown. For now it is white.

Adoramus Te, Christe

Christ, we do all adore Thee
And we do praise Thee for ever

Christ, we do all adore Thee
And we do praise Thee for ever

For on the holy cross hast Thou the world from sin redeemed

Christ, we do all adore Thee
And we do praise Thee for ever

Christ, we do all adore Thee

Theodore DuBois penned perhaps one of the most beautiful chorales of all time as a closing to his oratorio "The Seven Last Words of Christ."

Spring

With temps in the 60's it finally felt like spring this week in Cleveland. By the way, the first day of spring was THREE weeks ago!

But finally this week it has warmed up enough to get out the rake, clean up flower beds and pick up the winter detritus. I have been poking around the yard while I have been stripping some woodwork I intend to use in the camp. After you apply the stripper you have to let it set for 15 minutes before you remove it. You can do a lot of yard work in 15 minute intervals.

The snowdrops have bloomed and the maple trees are budding. In the front beds the crocus, tulips and daffodils are all through the ground.

My bluebells are also poking up too. They bloom early and then dy away for another year. In a couple of weeks they will look just like those pictured below.

Stop and smell the flowers where you find them...

Pictures of a Work in Progress

We were in VT over the weekend and checked out the work. Picked out some flooring, and ceiling for the loft and master bedroom. Here are some pics of the progress.
